Warren Wilton "Butch" Henson Jr., 85, died, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday afternoon, May 29, 2023. Warren was born July 30, 1937, in Gladewater, Texas to Warren W. Henson Sr. and Ellen Henson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marie Helen Henson; his parents and nephew, Paul Fairchild. He was survived by his son, Warren Wilton 'Skip' Henson III and wife Monika Anderson; daughter, Heather Ann Henson; and son, Craig Douglas Henson; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. After moving around the Texas and Arkansas oilfields in his youth, he graduated from Pratt, Kansas Jr. High in 1952 and Liberal, Kansas High School where he was president of his class. Warren then attended the University of Kansas where he began dating future wife Marie Helen Fairchild who he had been friends in high school. Warren graduated with a Petroleum Engineering degree in 1959. While he was at K.U. he played football and was a proud member of Delta Upsilon fraternity. He was also a member of the Liberal Bee Jays semi-pro baseball team in 1956. After graduating, Warren and Marie married, had three children, named above, and moved frequently throughout the southwest while Dad worked as an engineer and subsequent owner, with his father, of a number of oilfield trucking companies. Later, at the urging of Marie, he became a proud member and union steward of the US Postal Department, where he ultimately retired. Warren leaves behind many close friends who shared his interests in collecting rare books and Lionel toy trains. An avid left-handed golfer, he will also be missed by fellow members of his Tuesday "The Fools Group" golf group. In addition, Warren was somehow able to participate in the recent draft involving his longtime fantasy baseball team The Warreny Toads (currently in third place) in between two open-heart bypass surgeries. The family would also like to thank everyone who assisted Dad in the recent months– especially Dr. David E. Fisher and Sharon King who provided Dad with many years of compassionate care. After a difficult and brave struggle, Warren is now able to join his beloved wife Marie, his parents, and dogs Bee Gee, Misty, Sally, Duke and Sam 1 and 2 in Heaven. We will miss you dearly Dad.
