James W. (Jay) Hash, 62, of 1813 Clouds Ford Road, died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday at Indian Path Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Hawkins County, he had lived in Scott County the early part of his life and had been a resident of Kingsport for 38 years. He was a Baptist and employed in the shipping department of Mead Corp. for 32 years before retiring in 1975.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sarah Maude Hash, Kingsport; five daughters, Miss Edna Faye Hash, Miss Ruby May Hash, Mrs. Clayton (Helen) Salling and Mrs. Johnny (Hazel) Christian, all of Mrs. Randall (Reba Gay) Good, Church Hill; two sons, Robert Joe Hash, Church Hill, and Jerry Wayne Hash, Kingsport; seven sisters, Mrs. Betty Dennison, Mrs. Gilmer (Faye) Glover, Mrs. Nannie Ruth Deans, all of Gate City, Mrs. Barbara Marshall, Mrs. R. L. (Evelyn) Barker, Mrs. Ralph (Ola) Evans, all of Chesapeake, Va., and Mrs. Elmo (Pearl) Salyers, Kingsport; one brother, Walter Hash, Bethlehem.
