01/30/1927 - 03/23/2008 Daniel Joseph Pawlowski, 81, of Maumee, Ohio, formerly of Toledo, passed away on Easter Sunday. Daniel was a navy veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict serving as a radar man 1st Class. He was wounded aboard a ship during the Battle of Okinawa. He was a member of the U.S. Navy LST and Tin Can Sailors Associations, American Legion of Columbus, Ohio for 13 years and recently a member of Maumee Lodge 320. He was also an active member of the Flying Tigers building remote control airplanes. He was a lifelong parishioner of the former St. Stanislaus Catholic Parish where he served as a lector until the parish closed. Daniel loved fishing, attending Navy LST, AKA, destroyer and cruiser reunions and spent quality time with his entire family. A devoted husband, father and grandfather always cheerful, loving and caring. Daniel retired in 1989, after 13 years of service as a Lucas Co. Deputy Sheriff. Prior to 1989, he was a captain of Campus Police for Owens Community College. He also worked on the New York Penn Central Railroad from 1960 until 1976 as a railroad clerk. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Anna (Papenfus) Pawlowski; sons, (infant) Robert and Richard. He is survived by his loving wife, woman of his dreams, Esther V. (Mrozowski) Pawlowski. They were married May 14, 1949, at St. Stanislaus Toledo; Daniel is also survived by his sons, Ronn and Russell (Theresa); daughters, Nancy Menifee and Marilyn Seiple; 12 grandchildren, and by 9 great-grandchildren. Family and friends may visit at the W.K. Sujkowski & Son Funeral Home, 3838 Airport Hwy., on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. with AL Post 320 services at 6:30 p.m. and a recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery with burial honors by the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corps.
