Phillip Monroe Andrews, Jr., 49, died Saturday morning, September 7, 1996. A native of Carrboro, he was educated in the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, attended UNC at Chapel Hill and King's College in Charlotte, and was employed with the UNC-CH Institute of Government for 24 years. He was a member of Carrboro Baptist Church.
He is survived by his long-term friend, Anthony Karl Conner, of the home; his mother, Margaret Blake Andrews, of Carrboro; a sister, Margaret Andrews Smith, of Carrboro; a brother, Hamlin Bradford Andrews, of Winston-Salem; and three nieces, two nephews, and two grand-nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 9, at 2 PM at Carrboro Baptist Church. A 40-minute musical program will precede the service. Burial will follow at Westwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Walker's Funeral Home in Chapel Hill from 7 to 9 PM on Sunday, September 8.
