GULFPORT -- Richard H. Acton Sr., 69, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, in Gulfport.
Mr. Acton was a native and longtime resident of Birmingham, Ala. He had been a Coast resident for over a year. He was a veteran of the Korean War, and served in the Army. He was a life member of Disabled Veterans and of Masonic Hewitt Lodge No. 519 in Birmingham. Mr. Acton was formerly with Alabama Power and Light for many years and was self-employed in Check Writer System in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Acton of Gulfport; two sons, Frank W. Keller of Pearl and Richard H. Acton Jr. of New Orleans; a daughter, Stephanie A. Harris of Gulfport; three sisters, Martha Liger of Florence, S.C., Katherine Sweigert of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bertie Hocevar of Birmingham; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be from noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North in Gulfport. A procession will leave the funeral home at 2:30 p.m. Thursday for a 3 p.m. graveside service in Biloxi National Cemetery.
