Obituary for Natha Alice Carman
Natha Alice Carman died December 5th, 2021 at her home in Talihina from a non-Covid related illness. She was born on July 19th, 1935 in Talihina, the youngest daughter of Nathan and Clara Gann. Natha graduated from Talihina High School in 1953 and Oklahoma A & M (OSU) in 1957 where she received her bachelors degree. Later, she received her masters degree from South Eastern Oklahoma University. Natha was married to her one true love, Lee Carman on November 23rd, 1957 in Scandia, Kansas where she was located for her first teaching assignment. Lee was in the Navy which lead the couple to San Diego, California where Natha worked as a court clerk. The young couple later moved to Claremore, Oklahoma where Natha was teaching at Oklahoma Military Academy when they started their family. Eventually the couple returned to Talihina where Natha became the first female area director for the Kiamichi Area Technology Center. She was proud to oversee the construction of the beautiful new facility in 1985. Natha was active in the community as a local historian and was the first caretaker of the ancient copies of the Talihina American Newspaper. Natha also established the first Talihina Cemetery manual by spending many hours walking the cemetery with a legal pad and pencil. Lee and Natha owned and operated Carman's Sport and Supply in Talihina for a short time and later Oldtimers Antiques. She loved every minute junkin' with Lee and her best friend forever, Peggy Tally of Poteau. Natha was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Talihina.

In addition to her parents, Natha was proceeded in death by her husband, Lee Ellis Carman; daughter, Sarah Ann Duncan; and sister, Barbara Ann Gann.

Natha is survived by her daughters, Julie Little and husband Jeff and Carrie Linn and husband Bryan; her beloved granddaughter, Jessie Ann Duncan and nephew, Nathan Eric Gann.
Natha was a true sweet soul and will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

The family will be hosting a memorial service on Saturday December 11th, 2021 at 2:00PM at the First Methodist Church in Talihina, Oklahoma.

Cremation services are being provided by McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
