She Was Married To My Great Uncle George~

Helen Louise Smith, 85, Lee's Summit, Mo., passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at the John Knox Village Care Center in Lee's Summit.

Before Helen retired, she worked as a bookkeeper/secretary at the United Retail Clerks Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, George B. Smith, in 1985.

Her survivors include her son, James Dale Smith and his wife, Debra, of Independence, Mo.; daughter, Darlene Marie Carlton and her husband, Harry, of Hendersonville, Tenn.; grandsons, Chris Carlton, Brent Carlton and wife, Melanie, Logan Smith Heather, and Garrett Smith and his wife, Rachel; and her great-granddaughters, Brittney, Cassidy, Brianna and Mikaila.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City. Friends and family are welcome to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City, 816-353-1218. The family suggests contributions to the John Knox Village Hospice House.
