A. G. Allison, Chester, Dies

Lawyer, Justice Of Peace Stricken Monday.

Arthur G. Allison, 53, attorney and justice of the peace, died at his home in Fifth street, Chester, today at 12:30 a.m., from a paralytic stroke which he suffered Monday. Mr. Allison was born on a farm near Newell and attended the East Liverpool High school, graduating with the class of 1901. He completed a law course at the University of West Virginia in 1904, and was admitted to the bar in Hancock county in 1905. In 1908 he was elected city solicitor of Chester, serving a two year term, and was city sergeant from 1910 to 1912. He also served as secretary of the Chester board of education from 1908 to 1911. In 1910 Mr. Allison was appointed justice of the peace to serve out the unexpired term of Frank S. Huff Sr., resigned. He was elected justice in 1912, and has been re-elected every four years in the interim, serving nearly 24 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Chester. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Allison; a sister, Mrs. Harry Hall, near Newell; a nephew, Dr. J. E. Hall of Chester, and two nieces, Mrs. Donald Rigby of Newell, and Miss Mary Hall, near Newell. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the home in Fifth street, with Rev. W. T. McKee, pastor of the First Presbyterian church, in charge. Interment will be made in Locust Hill cemetery. Friends are requested to call at the home Wednesday afternoon and night.
