Harris "T-Harris" Guidry Sr., 75, a native and resident of Chauvin, LA, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Sunday, January 2, 2022, at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, 4511 West Park Ave., Gray, LA 70359 from 4:00pm until 8:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chauvin, LA from 9:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm. The burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
He is survived by his long-time companion of 22 years, Merline Trahan; children, Stacey Guidry, Shanna Battise (Robert), Harris "T-do" Guidry Jr. (Vickie), and Nicholas Guidry (Erika); stepchildren, Tabatha Gutierrez (Jesus) and Melissa Henry (Eldren); seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and siblings, Larry Guidry (Joan), Vernon Carrere (Sheri), and Eric Carrere (Christie).
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Theodore Blanchard; parents, Viola Trahan Guidry Carrere and Redel Guidry; stepfather, Stelay Carrere; brothers, Redel Guidry Sr. and Errol Carrere; and first wife, Irene P. Guidry.
"T-Harris" was a lifelong commercial fisherman and business owner promoting Louisiana seafood. He was a great salesman with a great sense of humor. He was also a loving companion, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle to all. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He proudly served our country as a Vietnam Veteran.
The family would like to thank the local fire department and rescue units for their great efforts.
