Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. George Emile Mouhot, the former Rose Guillot, 97, time pending, on Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Evangeline Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services, with a recitation of the rosary during the visitation.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Mouhot passed away at 3:35 a.m. Saturday Jan. 27, 2007 at Sherwood Manor in Baton Rouge.

Mrs. Mouhot was a 1926 graduate of New Iberia High School and a 1929 graduate of SLI. She was a lifelong educator in New Iberia with over thirty years dedicated to teaching. She taught on both the junior and senior high level, but most will remember her as their algebra teacher.

She was a devoted parishioner of St. Peters Catholic Church, a past member of the Iberia Garden Club (she had a love of gardening), was a member of the Bridge Club, and a member of the Iberia Parish Retired Teachers Association.

Survivors include her son, Henry George Mouhot of New Iberia; her grandchildren, Annette Buchbinder of Columbus, OH, Jennifer Favaron and Mathieu Mouhot of Baton Rouge; five great-grandchildren; and her sister, Mrs. Burton (Lilly Jane) Cestia, Sr.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Emile Mouhot; two sons, Richard Louis Mouhot and Kenneth Guillot Mouhot; and her brothers and sister.

Pallbearers will be Burton E. Cestia, III, George Allen Cestia, Michael Mouhot, Mike Favaron, Billy Landry, and Bud Cestia.
