Mrs. Lucy Simpson was born at Greencastle, Indiana, December 25, 1845.
She was united in marriage to Christopher Columbus Bailey. To them was born nine children, Sara Emma, Luella Eva, Elizabeth, George Lincoln, Charles Simpson, Minnie Blanch, Solomon Benson and Clarence Christopher, four of whom are living.
The husband died 14 October 1887.
The surviving children are; Clarence C. Bailey of Eureka, Charles S. Bailey of Actec, New Mexico, Mrs. Sarah Brookover of Eureka, and Mrs. Luella McHugh of Maitland, Mo. Mrs. Bailey is also survived by two brothers, S.L. Simpson of Gardner, Kansas and John M. Simpson of Neosho Falls, Kansas.
Mrs. Bailey joined the Christian Church in her youth and has lived a helpful Christian life. Always she was happy, always planning new activities, thinking of the service she could render to others rather than expecting or deemanding favors for herself. He life has been a blessing and a benediction to her family and friends.
Funeral service, conducted by Rev. W.J. Gilmore of the Christian Church, was held from the home on North Elm Street Tuesday afternoon, March 19. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
