Esquire, J O Offutt, 49 years, died Tuesday morning at 3:50 o'clock at his home at Offutt. he was a son of the late John L Offutt, a prominent railroad contractor and builder of the K & O railroad. He was a member of the Anderson County court, postmaster of his home town and merchant. he took an active interest in matters of public welfare and was road commissioner for his district many years. Deceased leaves a widow, one son, John L, a brother, W A Offutt of Clinton, two sisters, Mesdames S K Dossett of Jellico and M H Irwin of Coal Creek. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the home. Interment was in the Offutt [Ross] cemetery.
