Dr. Allen was a retired Professor from Reinhardt College now known as Reinhardt University. Upon retirement, Dr. Allen was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus.
Dr. Allen was a native of Texas. He earned a Batchelor of Arts in Mathematics from Texas Christian University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Harvard University. Dr. Alan taught at the secondary level several years before making the decision to teach college level mathematics. He was awarded a federal grant to attend the Academic Year Institute at the University of Oklahoma, and while furthering his education there, he taught courses at Oklahoma High School. He then went on to pursue and earn a doctorate in mathematics from Peabody University.
In 1970, after earning his PhD, Alan accepted a position at Reinhardt College. During his time there he also served as Chairman of the faculty and Chairman of the Division of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. After his retirement from Reinhardt, Dr. Allen served on the Board of Trustees as a member and chairman. Dr. Allen attended the Waleska United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and as Meals on Wheels Coordinator. Dr. Allen was a classical pianist who loved to play for others when time allowed. Dr. Allen was also a member of the Canton Lions Club.
