Miss Emma Steckel passed away in the home where she had lived more than half a century, after an illness with a heart ailment covering a period of several years. During this time her illness was punctuated with periods of comparative health when she was able to take part in her regular activities. Several weeks ago she was stricken with an attack of pneumonia, followed by a severe heart depression, but for the last four days of her life apparently had made another recovering, when death came unexpectedly at 4:30 p. m. Monday, Nov. 30.

Miss Steckel was born July 17, 1875, the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Gable) Steckel. A member of Zion Lutheran church, she took part in the church work as long as health permitted. She was a member of the Needle Art Circle. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. L. G. Clendenning; two nephews and four nieces. The funeral was conducted at the church Wednesday afternoon by the Rev. A. E. Wulf, assisted by the Rev. Paul Recher, a nephew by marriage of the deceased.
