Jackie Carroll Barnes, age 72, a resident of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Monday, June 19, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Born on May 27, 1951, in Milan, Tennessee, Jackie was the son of the late Edd Thomas Barnes and the late Frances Marie Scroggins Barnes. He was a 1970 graduate of Columbia Central High School and earned his associate degree from Columbia State Community College. He served in the National Guard and worked in mechanical maintenance for Pillsbury and the Tennessean from 1978 until he retired in 1994. Jackie was an avid Tennessee Titans fan and season ticket holder ever since they came to Nashville.


He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Kay (Clifford) Johnson of Columbia, TN and Rita Barnes of Jackson, TN, brother in law, Robert W. Baker of Kentucky, very special nieces and nephews, Yvette Baker, Robert Baker, Jr., Jeanna Frommel, Tiffany Goad, Regan Hartley, Rebecca Gilbert, Christopher Johnson, several great nieces and great nephews, and special friends, Laurel & Joe Barrier and Stephinie Young and family.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Baker.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at 1:00 PM at Concord Cemetery.
