Funeral services were held at
the General Baptist Church Wed-
nesday for P.J. Birchfield, 87
year-old resident of this city who
died January 12 at the Poplar
Bluff Hospital.
The services were conducted by
Rev. Thurman Bland, Rev.
Charles Leathers and Rev. Bob
Harber, Interment was in Woodlawn
Cemetery with Landess Funeral
Home in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were: Odell Keg-
ley, Kenneth Sanders, Albert
Lewis, D.W. Boyd, Everett
Riddle and Donald Sharley.
Pearl J. Birchfield, son of Joseph
and Peggy Jane Norman
Birchfield, was born at Dexter, Mo.
April 15, 1876.
He was married to Rosie Moore
and they were the parents of three
children. After Mrs. Birchfield's
death in 1946 he was later married
to Mrs. Jennie Swinney who
survives.
Mr. Birchfield was a member
of the Campbell General Baptist
Church and had been a resident
of this city 21 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs.
Jennie Birchfield; two sons, Melvin
and Roy, both of Ann Arbor,
Mich., a daughter, Mrs. Oma
Robertson of Ypsilanti, Mich., a
sister, Mrs. Mary Petty of Qulin,
Mo., seven grandchildren, 17
great-grandchildren, one great-
great-grandchild; five step-children,
Mrs. Edna Marks and Mrs.
Pina Loafman, both of St. Louis.
Mrs. Ethel McKenzie, Mrs. Emily
McGill and Mrs. Pauline Duty,
all of Campbell; other relatives
and many friends.
