Nina Atkinson Wagner Odom, of Baylake Retirement Community in Virginia Beach, died March 21, 2008. A native of Norfolk, she was born to William Carter and Juanita J. Atkinson Jan. 19, 1919. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Jefferson A. Wagner and, later, by her second husband, Oliver B. Odom. Nina was an avid gardener and lover of nature, but her deepest passion was her German Shepherd or Bouvier canine companions through the years. Nina is survived by four stepchildren, Lelia Wagner Devereux, Ann Wagner Gill, Patricia Odom Hunter, and Richard B. Odom. A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday in Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby St., Norfolk. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Albert Butzer of First Presbyterian Church of Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Virginia Beach SPCA are encouraged. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk chapel is handling arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to the family at hdoliver.com.
