May Electa Cridlin Fought, 86, formerly of Parkersburg, died Nov. 24, 2005, at Morningside In The West End Assisted Living Care Facility, Richmond, Va.

She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Richmond, a daughter of Ethel Virginia McDowell Cridlin and Morris Stanley Cridlin.

Mrs. Fought was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Parkersburg, where, for many years, she served on the Altar Guild, was a member of ECW and an avid worker with the church's clothes closet. She was a homemaker, a member of Plum Busy Homemakers Club, a Girl Scout Leader and a VISTA worker. She was also a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital, Western District Guidance Clinic and the Red Cross.

She is survived by her husband, Homer Crawford Fought of Morningside In The West End; two daughters, Jean Whisenant and husband , David, of Parkersburg and Judith Arnold and husband, Gayle, of Richmond; granddaughter, Teresa Swanson and husband, Jeff, of Glen Allen, Va.; great-grandson, Matthew of Glen Allen, Va.; two sisters, Margaret Warren and husband, Bill, of Highland Springs, Va., and Ina Stickel and husband, Walt, of Sandston, Va.; one brother, Wayne and wife, Vera, of Ft. Myers, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, David W. Whisenant Jr.; four brothers, Stanley, William, Kenneth and Elwood; and six sisters, Ethel, Regina, Bernice, Hazel, Mildred and Bessie.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg, with The Rev. Arthur L. Bennett III officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Altar Guild Flower Fund, 903 Charles St., Parkersburg, WV 26101, or to a church or charity of choice.
