PRINCETON — Edna Clara Looney, 88, of 1405 East Main Street in Princeton died Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va.

Born April 24, 1919 in Princeton, she was the daughter of the late William N. and Ora Wilson Looney. She was a graduate of Princeton High School and formerly worked at the Franklin Dairy Products in Bluefield and the G.C. Murphy Five & Dime in Princeton. She was also retired from the Maidenform Corporation in Princeton. Edna was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Princeton and was also a member of the United Methodist Women and the Cassidy Pendleton Sunday School Class. She belonged to several clubs and organizations in Princeton including the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, AARP, and the Brushcreek CEOS Homemakers Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William Harold Looney, Paul Looney and Edward Looney; two sisters, Faye Hurst and Lana Looney; one niece, Pat Hurst Matheny; and a great-niece, Chris Simmons Presley.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Clara Belle Honaker Looney; one nephew, William H. Looney Jr. and wife Joanna of Bluefield; two nieces, Isabel Simmons and husband Danny of Bluefield and Betty Jane Custer and husband Nate of Yorktown, Va.; great-nephews and nieces, Jon William Looney of Bluefield, Linda Looney Diemer and husband Mike of Raleigh, N.C., Daniel T. Simmons Jr. of Bluefield, Susan VanHoose and husband Greg of Ravenswood, WV, Tracy Freund and husband Drew of Bluefield, David Custer of Newport News, Va., Stacy Smith and husband Kemper of Wake Forest, N.C., and Allyson Green of Midlothian, Va.; and 12 great-great nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 19, 2008 (today) at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Randy Adkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Mausoleum in Princeton. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the service hour today.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, PO Box 304, Princeton, WV 24740.
