Ella Rettig, 85, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022 at Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City, ND.

Ella (Karn) Rettig was born October 12, 1936, in Pettibone, ND, the daughter of Orville and Caroline (Mack) Karn. She moved with her family to several North Dakota cities until the family settled on a farm near Kensal, ND. Ella married Robert Rettig in Wimbledon, ND on July 15, 1961. Ella worked as a beautician and owned her own salon in Wimbledon for several years. In 1967, the family moved to Jamestown, ND where she worked for Judy's Hair Fashions for several years. She began working for White Drug Enterprises at the corporate office in 1972. After the corporate office moved to Minneapolis, Ella remained with the company as auditor/special projects coordinator until 1989 when she resigned. In 1989, Ella began work as manager of the Jamestown Mall until retiring in 2002. Robert died April 30, 2000.

Ella was a member of St. James Basilica, Holy Family Circle and St. James Tabernacle for several years. She loved music, working in her yard, baking, and traveling.

Ella is survived by two daughters, Dawn (Steve) Udy, South Jordan, UT and Joy (Scott) Guthmiller, Jamestown; six grandchildren, Cody (Sharyl), Megan (Travis), Mike (Heidi), Alicia, and JoDee (Chris); eleven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Bailey, Briauna, Braxton, Bryson, Treyton, Alexis, Shayne, Kori, Chance and Chase; two sisters, Irene (Cliff) Gumke, Jamestown and Rosa Ingold, CA; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob; brother, Orville Karn, Jr.; sister, Clara Oathoudt; sister-in-law, Joyce Karn; and two brothers-in-law, Cal Oathoudt and Philip Eckroth; and grandson, Steve Udy, Jr.

Visitation – 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life - 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at Eddy Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial - 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 18, 2022 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown.

Burial – Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.
