Elijah Mario Hansen, age 10 of Pewaukee, "leveled up" and completed the game of life on December 29, 2022. He is now wearing his victory crown in Heaven! Eli won over cancer! He joyfully ran into the arms of Jesus as his family surrounded him with love through his final breath and beyond.

Eli was born in February of 2012 to Chris and Jamie (Ostrenga) Hansen. Eli loved life! He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends, playing video games, playing baseball, baking, fishing, and just having fun. He had the best laugh and made everyone smile. Eli was treated for neuroblastoma (a childhood cancer) for over 6.5 years. In that time, he inspired many people with his ability to live in the moment, his love of life, his strength and resiliency, and his faith.

Eli is survived by his parents, Chris and Jamie; his siblings, Ella, Abby, Owen, and Alex; maternal grandparents, Mike and Bonnie Ostrenga; paternal grandparents, Ed and Penny Hansen. He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

A very special thank you to Eli's medical teams at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Helen DeVos Children's Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Comer Children's Hospital, Levine Children's Hospital, American Family Children's Hospital, and Zuza's Way Integrative Care, who cared for him over the years. Lots of love and many thanks to Eli's primary oncologist, Dr. Nate Scholemer, the solid tumor clinic nurses, HOT Unit nurses, Day Hospital nurses, and Eli's surgeon Dr Dave Lal at CHW; as well as Eli's radiation oncologist Dr. Salem Firat and his team at Froedtert. All of these amazing people took extra special care of Eli throughout the years and we are beyond grateful. We'd also like to thank Kristen Bingen and Jeff Karst, psychology; Laurie Good, Palliative Care NP; and Agrace Hospice for the wonderful care and support they gave Eli and our family, doing their very best to assure comfort along the journey.
