Kathryn Clara Harvey Leftwich, 98, of Sedalia, formerly of Hughesville, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Loving Arms Assisted Living in Sedalia.

She was born January 27, 1925, in Pettis County, daughter of James A. Harvey and Ethel (Chamberlin) Harvey.

On February 14, 1954, at Fifth Street Methodist Church, she was united in marriage to John C. "Jack" Leftwich, who preceded her in death on August 1, 2014.

Kathryn was a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was a member of the Ambassadors Sunday School class. She attended Sedalia Business College and worked as a secretary for Dr. Edwards and Dr. Stauffacher following WWII. Later in life she returned to work in the business office at Bothwell Regional Health Center, retiring in 1990. She volunteered with several organizations in the community.

Kathryn was an extremely accomplished seamstress, having started sewing when she was five years old. She passed her passion on to many as sewing leader in the Longwood Neighbors 4-H Club.

Kathryn was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and loved getting together with friends and family. She was a very sociable person and dear friend to many. She was an avid Bridge and Pinochle player and especially enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are two sons, James J. Leftwich of Palo Alto, CA, and Jeffrey L. Leftwich (Monica) of Centertown, MO; grandson, Derek Leftwich (Michelle) of Olathe KS; granddaughter, Dr. Shawna Leftwich, DPT of Iowa City, IA; great-grandson, Nolan Leftwich; great-granddaughter, Nora Leftwich; and brother Jim Harvey of Oklahoma City, OK.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Clay Leftwich, Jr. and sisters Mary Helen Anderson and Doris Harvey.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, July 5th, 2023 followed by Funeral services at 11:00 A.M. at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Rev. Bruce Anderson and Rev. Dennis Harper officiating.

Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
