Alfred Larkin Whitmire, 95, of Walnut Ridge passed from this life on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Lawrence Hall Nursing Center in Walnut Ridge. He was born November 12, 1927, in Saffell to the late Azro and Dovie (Edwards) Whitmire. He was united in marriage to Patricia Gilbreth on March 3, 2001, in Clover Bend. He was a heavy equipment construction operator during his life. Alfred proudly served in the United States Army and Air Force, and was also a Mason. He was of the Methodist belief.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Melba (Coats) Whitmire; brothers and sisters, Grant, Millard, Melvin, Polly, Louise, Betty, J.W., and Jimmy.
He is survived by his wife Patricia, of 22 years of the home; daughter, Louanne Behrens (George) of Princeton, Illinois; stepchildren, Leslie Smith (Mike) of Oakland, Tennessee, and Jimmy Oldham of Denver, Colorado; grandchildren, Heather, Amber, Eric, Tiffany, Melissa, Kelsie, Chase, and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Gavin, Maddie, Brennen, Addison, Easton, Ben, Evie, Lennon, Avrie, Waylon, and Ellis.
Alfred requested no services be planned. He will be laid to rest in Andover, Illinois at a later date.
