Donald W. Chapman, age 76, of Peoria passed away Friday, March 21, 2008, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 22, 1932, in St. Louis, Mo., to Daniel and Minnie (Swank) Chapman. He married Nancy Riedlinger on April 10, 1954, in Peoria.

She survives, along with one daughter, Debra (Toby) Jones of Bartonville; one son, Dave (Karen) Chapman of Mapleton; one sister, Janet (Jim) Sherlock of Peoria; and his mother-in-law, Lucille Riedlinger of Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Chapman; and two sisters, Karen Chapman and Margaret Jones.

Donald was a Korean War Marine veteran.

He worked at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a member of the Bartonville Lions Club and was a member and officer with the Independent Steel Workers Union.

He was very active in his community, especially when his children were young. He loved gardening, fishing, and traveling.

Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton, with military honors.
