POWNAL — Pansy E. Carter, 81, of Elmwood Road, died Dec. 26, 2005 at Hawthorne House, Freeport.

She was born July 1, 1924, in Wileyville, W.Va., the daughter of Frank and Lillie Postlethwait Henderson.

She graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1942.

She married Kenneth Carter in 1945. Mr. Carter died in 1987.

Mrs. Carter loved birds, flowers and gardening, and her black Labrador, Remington. Above all, she was a Red Sox fanatic.

Mrs. Carter was the supervisor for Pineland Hospital for 30 years until retiring in 1987.

Mrs. Carter was predeceased by her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a son, Timothy J. Carter of Eagan, Minn.; a daughter, Rebecca L. Pollack and her husband Scott of Pownal; and two grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 2, at Brackett Funeral Home, 29 Federal Street, Brunswick with the Rev. C. Richard Sheesley officiating. Interment will be in the Spring at Elmwood Cemetery, Pownal.
