Jirah Fish Sr is my 6th great grandfather. Jirah Fish Jr is my 5th great grandfather.
In my 30 PLUS years of Genealogy work, one thing i have found is that Town Cemetery records are not always complete or accurate. For example, one of my Madore forefathers, is buried in a certain cemetery, beside his wife. The TOWN cemetery record shows him buried, ALONE, without his wife, in the center of the cemetery. The sexton actually told me that was where he was buried, and showed me the map. The sexton also told me that he was buried ALONE, that his wife was NOT buried next to him!! I searched all over that cemetery, more than once. Sure enough, i found them, TOGETHER, buried beside their daughter & her husband, NOWHERE'S NEAR where the records claim. They were buried near the FRONT of the cemetery, on the right side, right where a family member told me they were located!!! Another Madore ancestor, buried in another cemetery, was buried in an unmarked grave. A relative KNEW where they were buried, at the time, but after the landmark it was near was removed, they could no longer find the exact spot. ALL THEY KNEW was that our lovedone was buried in that general location. When i inquired with the town, their records had NO RECORD of that burial. BUT, my relative KNEW FOR SURE they were there. I found the obit of the husband, it revealed he was there, as well!!!!! In regards to my Fish relatives. Jirah Fish Jr & Sr are DEFINATELY buried in the Fish Cemetery!! NO disrespect intended, but the manager of MY relative's memorials claims she knows more than relatives do about MY OWN RELATIVES. There is Official Documented PROOF that Jirah Fish Jr & Sr are buried in the Fish Cemetery in Leeds. Their stones are not just "markers," they were Military Ordered Headstones. There are State Of Maine Documents and Official Birth records PROVING Benjamin & Mehitable (Pope) are Jirah Sr's parents. AND PROVING Jirah Sr's birth date & birthplace. I have tried to reasonably request the info to be added to Jirah Sr's memorial. She UTTERLY REFUSES. She also has rudely threatened to report my memorials to findagrave admin if i don't remove them from the Fish Cemetery, and or don't mark them "burials unknown." This hurts my feelings, but she is also harrassive. I have spoken to findagrave myself regarding this. I ONLY want to HONESTLY & RESPECTFULLY Honor my forefathers. They DESERVE their info to be posted and to be connected to their lovedones. I cannot change this situation. The manager of Jirah Sr & Jirah Jrs memorials refuses to connect the Fish family to their memorials. It's NOT fair to descendants & relatives living to try to find their lovedones.
