Ellen M. Caldwell, 67, concluded her long battle with cancer on August 10, 2018, in Los Angeles, CA. Born in Los Angeles to physician William G. Caldwell and golden age star of stage and screen Joan Leslie, she earned degrees from USC and UCLA in English literature and taught for 42 years, at UCLA, Vanderbilt University, Kalamazoo College (Kalamazoo, MI) and California State University Fullerton. She published articles in scholarly journals and taught mediaeval and Renaissance literature. She was preceded in death by both parents and survived by her twin sister Patrice, hundreds of treasured colleagues and friends, and thousands of students who valued her passion for teaching, her sense of humor, and her caring attention to their success. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Our Mother of Good Counsel Church on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Mother of Good Counsel Church, 2060 N. Vermont Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90027.
