George S. Scott, 84, of 409 South Market Street, Waverly, died 7:03 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 1990 in Pike Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 25, 1905 in Omega, Ohio, the son of the late William Preston and Margaret Jane Clark Scott.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Durham Scott, to whom he married Oct. 13, 1928; a son, William C. Scott, Dublin, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. William (Norma Jean) Foster, Piketon; five grandchildren, Steve P. Foster, Lebanon, Ohio, Robert E. Foster, Waverly, Margaret J. Scott, Andrew B. Scott, and Markham R. Scott, all of Dublin; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Lindsay Foster, Waverly; and a niece, Mrs. Jane Featherstone, East Lansing, Mich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Scott was a member of the Waverly Grace United Methodist Church. He retired as president of the Waverly First National Bank, having served as president form 1945-1975. He was a member and former chairman of the First National Bank Board of Directors. He had been affiliated with First National Bank for 60 years.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, with Rev. Walter B. Custer officiating. Burial will follow in Waverly Evergreen Union Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home 5-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pike Community Hospital.
