Landon (Jay) Cullum of Pilot Point Texas, beloved husband, best friend, pilot and adventurer took his last flight Sunday May 10, 2020 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinsons. A fifth generation Texan, originally from Wichita Falls, TX., he moved to Dallas to attend SMU and graduated in 1971 with a BA in Economics. Adventurer at heart, his journeys took him around the globe to pursue hunting and his love of flying. A pilot by the age of 18 he began flying aerobatics and became a fixture on Air Show circuits. Jay entertained crowds for 30 plus years flying the P-51 Mustang, T-34 Mentor and Skyraider. He will be remembered by the many pilots he flew with, the Commemorative Air Force, Lone Star Flight Museum and others he mentored and taught. In addition to flying he was an outstanding trainer of English Pointers and loved nothing more than to take them quail hunting testing their skills at the family ranch in the company of his wife and father. Jay captured the hearts of all he met with his humor, wit, compassion and his love of life and will be forever missed by his close family and many lifelong friends. Jay is survived by his wife Charlotte Archer Cullum of Pilot Point, step-sons William E. Archer (Jessica), Daniel E. Archer (Lindsey), 7 grandchildren, sister Mary Cullum Thorp(Don), niece Madison Cullum Kuenzli and an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins that held a special place in his heart. He was pre-deceased by parents Landon H. Cullum Jr. and Elizabeth Singleton Cullum. There will be a celebration of Jay's life in the summer to be announced. Memorials may be made in his memory to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care center in Dallas, TX., Operation Kindness in Carrollton, TX. or the foundation of their choice.
