Wilburn graduated from San Marcos High School and SWTSC. He joined the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and served in China. After a long career with Avis Rent A Car he taught school. When he retired he moved back to San Marcos to care for his mother and open an Antique shop.
Wilburn was preceded in death by his father and mother-George, Sr. and Jamie Ragsdale, 3 brothers-J. Edwin Smith, J. Searcy Smith and George Ragsdale, Jr. and 2 nieces Patty Smith McKinney, and Bess Ann Smith.
He is survived by 1 niece-Polly Smith Wright and 1 nephew-Robert Smith, 3 great nephews, 10 great, great nieces and nephews, and 11 great, great, great nieces and nephews.
