John C. Billman was born April 10, 1949 in Kalamazoo to John E. and Ethelyne A. (Freer) Billman. He graduated from Marshall High School in 1967. John formerly worked at Eaton's, Airway, different construction jobs and at last at Subway until his poor health forced his retirement.
His marriage to Connie Wilson ended in divorce.
John enjoyed the Freer Family Reunions, of which he served as president twice. He liked to work with his hands and watch television.

He is survived by a daughter Angela Billman and a son Eric Billman both of CO; his mother and step-father Ethelyn A. and Nelson D'Water of Olivet; brother James Billman, sister Janet (Jay) Roberts, nephew Jay Roberts, and Great-niece Jasmine Roberts all of Marshall; his aunt Avis Williams of Marshall; and cousins Andrea Peck, Ross Williams, Ruth McGillis and Celine Rosencrants. He was preceded in death by his father John Edmund Billman, brothers Clayton and Wesley Billman, maternal grandparents Clayton and Ruth Freer, paternal grandparents Charles and Lillie Billman, and cousins Stephanie Schragg and Ronald Winters.
