Lola Orth, 84, of Ft. Pierre, died on Tuesday, March 25 at St. Mary's TCU.

Lola was born on September 12, 1923 in White River, SD to Frank and Hazel (Austin) Fitch. She lived on the family homestead on the Little White River, before moving to Virgil and then to Wessington.

After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Sioux Falls College. After college, she taught school near White River. During WWII, she worked in an aircraft plant, assembling PBY aircraft in Oakland, California and Eugene, Oregon. After the war, she taught school near Wessington.

She married Theodore (Ted) Orth in November 1949 in Ft. Pierre, where her family made their home.

Lola was a member of WWF, the Salvation Army and a 50 year plus member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, cooking and baking. She was an animal lover and enjoyed a good movie. She traveled extensively in North America and Europe. Lola had a bag packed and was always willing to head out for an adventure.

Lola is survived by her son, Paul Alan (Pamalee) Orth of Menomonie, WI; her daughter, Theodora Lee "Teddie" Adamski of Pierre; her sister-in-law, Marie O. Sarvis of Pierre; her grandchildren: Tara Lee (Michael Kogelmann) Adamski and Leslie Ann Adamski; her great-grandchildren: Alec Michael Adamski and Kaishia Lynn (David Charles) Anderson; her great-great-grandchild, Spencer Charles; and her unofficially adopted granddaughter, Whitney Nugent Meyer.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Arlo Austin Fitch and her sisters:Dorothy "Dode" Fitch Paleck and Lois Fitch; and her husband, Theodore "Ted" Orth.

Services will be Saturday, March 29 at First Congregational UCC with burial at Scotty Philip Cemetery.
