Sister Armetta Blue Cason departed this life on June 30, 2023, at home in Olustee, Florida. Sister Cason was born September 13, 1924, and raised on The Hill, in Sanderson, Florida to Sallie Mae Lee and James Blue. She was the fifth oldest of nine children. She received her early education through 8th grade in the public school in Baker County and went on to live with her uncle and aunt in Tampa, Florida to complete her 9th - 12th grade year at Middleton High School. Sister Cason attended and received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Florida Normal College in St. Augustine, Florida, and continued her studies at Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida. Her teaching career started out in the C.C. Camps in the rural area of Sanderson, Florida, she went on to teach 5th grade at Central Elementary School in Sanderson, Florida, and ended her 42 years of teaching service at Westside Elementary School in Glen St. Mary, Florida. She was a dedicated and faithful member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, President of the Home Mission Department, and President of the Emma B. Delaney Day who was a Baptist Missionary and Teacher, one 0of the earliest African American Missionaries. Sister Cason also served as President of the Women's Department of the Union Progressive Association for the West End. Sister Cason was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years and her two sons Wallace and Michael Cason. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted daughter Laeutonia Cason-Drayton, Olustee, Florida; one surviving sibling, sister, Fannie L. Morton, Jacksonville, Florida; 2 Grandsons and 2 Granddaughters, 8 Great Grands. Dedicated Caregivers to the end; Tosha Coleman and Samaria Williams and continued support from St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church Family and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and caring friends. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 1:00 pm. at New St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church, Sanderson, Florida. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to COMBS FUNERAL HOME, 292 NE Washington Street, Lake City, Florida.
