John T. Solem was born on 26 November 1894 at Union, South Dakota. He was the son of Thomas O. Solem and Anna Abrahamson. John T. Solem married Selma O. Holthe, daughter of Odin Holthe and Johanna Solberg, on 26 May 1923 at Union, South Dakota.
John T. Solem, 67, died Thursday at a Yankton hospital after an illness of five years. He had been under doctor`s care at the hospital for about two years_ He was baptized and confirmed at Roseni Lutheran church, where he had been a lifelong member. He was a veteran of World War I. He spent his life on a farm near Spink until 1959 when he moved to Alcester_ The American Legion post and the V.F.W. post of Elk Point had charge of military rites at the graveside. 1 Burial: 30 JUN 1962 Roseni Cemetery, , Union, South Dakota . Pallbearers were Russell Abraham, Rolland Abraham, Olaf Abraham, Ralph Lyle, William Lyle Jr, and Edwwin Thormodsgaard.
