Madalene Lane's Life Story
Madalene Carol, the daughter and youngest of four children born to Paul Dale and Myrtle Mae (Bancroft) Cameron was born five miles south of Scranton, Iowa in a farmhouse in rural Greene County. She grew up alongside her siblings, Marvel, Janice and LaVerne. She started school in Bayard and continued her education in the Indianola school system; then graduating from Norwalk High School with the Class of 1957. She met the love of her life, Jack Ronald Lane, while in school and they were united in marriage on July 14, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Norwalk. To this union they had three children Randy, Rusty, and Sandra. Madalene worked as a homemaker until 1978 when she went to work at the Norwalk Middle School as a Secretary and Student Monitor retiring in 1998.

Madalene was a very supportive mother/grandmother and never missed a school event where her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were involved. She enjoyed watching sports with Jack, attending auto races in Newton, being involved with the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine Activities, Norwalk Fire Ladies Auxiliary, being with her family camping in their travel trailer, loved working in the yard and tending to her flower garden, and her dogs, Peppi and Choco.

Madalene passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was 81 years, 8 months, and 15 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters.

She will lovingly be remembered by her husband, Jack, her children, Randy (Patti) of Indianola, Rusty (Roxy) of Newton, and Sandra (Tom) Jensen of Minneapolis, MN; her brother LaVerne (Carrol) Cameron of Milo, IA; 9 grandchildren, Jason (Amanda), Joshua (Brandy), Jeremy (Amanda Jo), Mitchell (Kendra), Monica (Travis), Allison, Kara (Chris), Jayme, and Michael (Ann); and 22 great-grandchildren.
