J C DILLON BURIED AT HINTON SATURDAY

Another pioneer settler of this section is numbered with the dead in the person of J. C. Dillon, who died at Rockport, Texas on Tuesday, March 6th, from an attack of apoplexy, which disease he was stricken with on the 1st of March.

The body was shipped to Hinton, Okla., accompanied by a number of sorrowed relatives and friends, reaching here Saturday noon. Funeral services were conducted at the Hinton Methodist church in the afternoon by Rev. C. W. Morrison, Baptist minister, and burial was made in the Hinton cemetery.

John C. Dillon was born in Knox county, Illinois, on January 24, 1859 and died at Rockport, Texas on March 6, 1928, aged 74 years 1 month and 11 days.

He was married to Barbara Dalton in September, 1872, and to this union were born eight children, four sons, namely, Henry Dillon, of Ordway, Colorado; Harry and Frank Dillon, of Hinton, Oklahoma; four daughters, namely Mrs. Oscar E. Clark, of Long Beach, California; Mrs. B. T. [sic] Mauk, of Augusta, Kansas; Mrs. H. E. Winsor, of Hinton Oklahoma; and Mrs. R. L. Clark, of Hinton, Oklahoma. These children survive, with the exception of his son, John.

Deceased grew to manhood in Illinois and went to Missouri in 1878, then moved to Kansas in 1884, and came to Garfield county, Oklahoma in 1893. He came to Caddo county, Oklahoma in 1901 and lived here for many years.

Besides the one son, John, three grandchildren have preceded him in death. He has 27 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren living.
