Birth record found at Library of Virginia shows that Millard R. ARNETT was born in Louisa, Va. to parents Archibald and Madora ARNETT. However, as early as August 4, 1912 he was shown as Millard Arnett ADAMS when it was reported in the Richmond Times Dispatch that he visited his father in Mineral.

Millard Arnett Adams of Chicago, spent a week with his father, A. D. Arnett.

According to the Evening Star, Washington, D.C. on Dec. 22, 1918, Captain Millard Arnett Adams of Chicago was a holiday guest of his sister, Mrs. Eugene Lewis Davis.

Mrs. Eugene Lewis Davis was the former Grace Curtis ADAMS. She lived with her family in Louisa on the 1900 census. She had no sisters or brothers. No known connection has been found to the Trice or Arnett family to explain why he used the name Adams. She was first married to Dr. Harold James Van Deursen in Mineral, Va. on June 4, 1906. He died Apr. 24, 1907. She married Eugene Lewis Davis in 1916.

Millard A. Adams married Marguerite Catherine Swantz on Oct. 22, 1913 in Chicago, Ill.
She was born Sept. 29, 1889 in Decatur, Macon Co., Ill. (from FamilySearch.Org).
They were divorced (shown on her marriage record to Earle Miller on Mar. 5, 1919).

Miss Marguerite Swantz of Decatur and Millard A. Adams of Fort Wayne, Ind., were married Monday in Chicago in the home of Rev. Mr. Allridge, pastor of the Garfield congregational church. The couple was attended by Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Sullivan, sister
of the bride, and Mrs. Grace Vanduessen, sister of the bridegroom, and Mr. and Mrs.
De Witt Curtis, grandparents of the bridegroom. After the ceremony, the party was given a wedding dinner in the home of Mrs. Vanduessen, in Washington boulevard.

Mrs. Adams is the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Swantz, 1401 East North street, and has lived here for several years.

Mr. Adams is Indiana manager for the Oliver typewriter company, with headquarters in Fort Wayne. The at-home cards read, "Ft. Wayne after November 1." Many presents were received. The bride received a check for $100, besides silverware and linen.
