Stage and Film Actress. "She was considered by many to be the greatest for her distinctive characterizations of colorful ladies..." From her first appearance on Broadway in 1927, she made her Broadway debut in ''The Trial of Mary Dugan,'' as a wise-cracking Follies girl along with her future husband the actor Louis Jean Heydt. She performed in "Bad Manners," "The Dark Tower," "Sexes and Sevens," ''The Sex Fable,'' ''The Music Man,'' ''Never Too Late.'' She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Cooper Maricle, of Wichita Falls, Texas. Miss Leona Maricle married Actor, Mr. Louis Jean Heydt on August 13, 1928, at the church of the Transfiguration, New York. The bride, who is a graduate of the Texas State College for Women, early developed a talent for dramatic art. She edited her class year book, was president of the dramatic society, directed all the college plays and was voted the most attractive and popular girl of her class. After her graduation she took a course at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and made her first appearance in one of John Dos Passos' plays, later appearing in the Cleveland Stock Company, and toured the Pacific coast in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes." Her films included ''The Hard Way,'' "O Shaughnessy's Boy ," "Theodora Goes Wild," "Women of Glamour," "Woman Chases Man," "The Lone Wolf in Paris," "Curtain Call," "Under Age," "My Reputation."
