Verna was born on December 22, 1947, to Robert M. Robinson and Helen (Clodt) Robinson in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. Shortly after, the family moved to St. Thomas, ND. After graduation, Verna moved to Grafton, ND where she began her 57-year career in bookkeeping. She was united in marriage to Roger Sherek and they were blessed with a daughter, Jana.
Verna worked for Associated Potato Growers for 18 years in the office, 24 years with Life Skills and Transition Center, 32 years with Heritage Village and 22 years with Grafton Blue Line Club. Verna loved working with numbers and continued to do so to the very end.
In her younger years, Verna loved to bowl and participated in a weekly league for 25 years. She attended many state tournaments and national tournaments in Las Vegas, NV and Tuscan, AZ. More recently, she enjoyed attending events with her Birthday Club Girls, lunches at the Senior Center, and visiting with friends and family.
In 2012, Verna married Les Aasand. Together they enjoyed caring for the grounds at Heritage Village, touring with the Car Club, and spending time with their family and friends.
Verna is survived by her daughter Jana (Lee) Bell; grandchildren: Wyatt and Skylar; brother, Dan (Jane) Robinson; nieces and nephews; as well as Les' five children and their spouses.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Les Aasand.
Memorial Service: Friday, July 21, 2023, at Tollefson Funeral Home of Grafton.
