DARBY, PHYLLIS MAXINE - Of Jackson, passed away Monday, August 11, 2008, age 87. She was the daughter of Amey and Ernest Losey born January 11, 1921 in Jackson, MI. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle in 2005; her parents; three brothers, Delbert, Roger, and Darell Losey; sister, Marian Winslow. Phyllis is survived by three children, Phillip W. (Julie) Fisher, Ronald L. (Kay) Fisher, and Linda K. (Michael) Williams; two step-children, Karen Powell and Delores (John) Parker; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Phyllis was the first graduating class of LPN's at Jackson Community College where she was also president of her class. She worked many years helping others at Home Visiting Nurses for Jackson County Health Department, Mercy Hospital in the emergency room, Jackson County Medical Care Facility, and her own private practice Darby Care Home. She loved to travel to Zephyrhills FL, where she sang in the Bet-Mar Choirs, played the "Gut-Tub" in the Kitchen Band and played the organ in the club. She enjoyed the company of many animal friends over the years. A special thank you to the staff at Highland Home For The Aged for their loving and tender care of our mother. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at the Watson Funeral Chapel Friday, August 15, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Bill Barker officiating, private inurnment following at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson, MI 49202 or Hospice of Jackson & Oaklawn, One Jackson Square, Suite 400, Jackson, MI 49201.
