Mrs. Mary Elliott
Mary Ann, daughter of John J. and Ann Middleton, was born at Columbus, Ohio, February 1, 1851, and passed away at the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home at Grand Island, Neb., Wednesday, July 23, 1941, following a four months' illness, being at the time of her death 90 years, five months, and 22 days of age.

At the age of 19 she came with her parents to Nebraska, settling on a farm three miles east of Beatrice where she lived until her marriage with Joseph Yohe in 1872. For 11 years they lived on a farm near the City. Mr. Yohe passed away in 1883.

In 1885 she was united in marriage the second time with Charles W. Elliott, and to this union, one son, Ernest H., was born, who survives her.

Besides the sorrowing son, there remains to mourn her passing three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, two brothers, Thomas C. Middleton of Brunswick, Neb., George B. Middleton of Portland, Ore., one sister, Mrs. Carre Wiebe of Kansas City, Mo., a number of other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Elliott passed away in May 1908. Four brothers also are deceased.

Mrs. Elliott resided in Beatrice for about 23 years, and in January 1934, she was admitted to the Soldiers' and Sailors' Home where she spent the remaining years of her life.

Early in life, she united with the First Christian church of this city where she retained her membership, being very active in her attendance at the worship services and auxiliary meetings of the church.

The deceased was a devoted wife, a kind mother, loyal neighbor, a sincere friend, and a worthy follower of the Lord. She has gone to find her eternal home with God.

Funeral services were held at the Harman-Johnson home Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, conducted by Pastor, R. B. Fouts, and burial was in the Evergreen Home cemetery.
