Son of Wyatt Jarrett and Frances Burnett. They were married in Pittsylvania Co.VA in 1813.

Leaving his wife and 4 children behind he enlisted into Company B 16th REG VA INF on 11 Apr.1862 at a place called Huger Barracks,VA. On Oct.2nd, suffering from dropsy he entered Danville, VA. hospital and on Oct 25th 1862 he received a furlough and went home. He returned to service on Nov.13th 1862 and was in the war for the duration and surrendered at Appomattox Court House, VA. on 9 Apr. 1865. He came home and they had 4 more children.

On Sunday July 23rd 1916, the Death Angel hovered around the bedside at the home of Mrs. James Morrison and took the spirit of Mr. Dock Jarrett, and he is sleeping now on that beautiful shore where there will be neither sickness, pain, sorrow nor death.
The deceased left this life lacking a few days of being 90 years old. Mr Jarrett was a devoted father and was a kind hearted friend and neighbor to all whom he met.
Mr. Jarrett leaves one brother and one sister, Miss Bettie Jarrett and Mr. Patrick Jarrett, and five children: Mr. Billie Jarrett, Mr. George Jarrett, and Mrs. Fannie Morrison, Mrs. Susan Spencer and Mrs. Kate Ingram, besides many grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives to morn his departure.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Chapman. The pall bearers were Messrs Tug Massie, Ben Turner, John Philpott, Sam Craig, Starling Wells. The flower bearers were Messrs P.G.Wright, Thomas Koger, P.T.Blackwell, Green McGhee, Oscar McGhee, John Eanes and Jim Wells.
The remains were laid to rest at Black Berry Baptist Church by the side of his companion Mrs. Martha Jarrett to await the resurrection morn.
