Alice was born in Chincoteague on April 27, 1915, the daughter of the late Elton and Amanda (Daisey) Bowden.
She was a member of Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, Fidelis Sunday School Class, taught Sunday school for many years at Union Baptist Church, and was past president of WMU. She owned and operated Alice's Dress Shop on Chincoteague.
Alice is the widow of Elton "Wordie" Clayville. She is survived by a daughter, Pat. She also is survived by Charlene and her husband Paul; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service was held at Union Baptist Church, Chincoteague, on Sunday, March 23, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Kevin Eley officiating. Interment was at Downing Cemetery, Oak Hall.
