Washington April 5 - Coming to Washington on the annual Easter excursion from northern New York. Edward J. Allen, 57 of Carthage and Mrs. Josephine Edwards was received here with interest. Mr. Allen is employed as a mechanic for the Island Paper Company.
He came here about 18 years ago from Seattle and has since resided in this village. He has five children, the oldest, a son Thomas aged about 38.
Mrs. Allen is a former resident of Fulton. She has been employed as housekeeper for Mr. Allen for some time.

Washington April 5 - Coming to Washington on the annual Easter excursion from northern New York. Edward J. Allen, 57 of Carthage and Mrs. Josephine Edwards, his housekeeper was married Saturday by the Rev. William M. Hoffman. The Bride gave her age as 33 in the marriage license.
Both Mr. Allen and his wife had been previously married and both divorced. Mr. Allen in the state of Washington and Mrs. Allen in New York State.
Mr. Allen gave his address as 225 Spring St. Carthage NY and bride the same address.

Josephine divorced her first husband, William Malcom Edwards for Edward J.Allen who she worked for as a housekeeper.



CENOTAPH. She is not buried here.

First married to Edward J. Allen. After his death she married Bernard Halstead and moved to Watertown, NY. Her actual burial spot is currently unknown.
It appears that only her daughter Betty Jean Allen is buried in this plot.
