Koehn Funeral Is Held Monday
A double funeral service was planned this afternoon at Gold Beach for Fred Herman Koehn and his two-year-old son, Walter Stanley Koehn, who died July 4 by drowning in the lower Rogue River. Cooper's Mortuary reported that the service was to be held in the Gold Beach Community Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Manson Metcalf, Seventh Day Adventist Pastor, officiating, followed by burial in the Gold Beach Cemetery, The lad fell from a fishing boat during the outboard motorboat races of the Gold Beach Aqua Carnival and his father jumped in after him, both drowning. The bodies were recovered later Friday evening.
Fred Herman Koehn was born April 30, 1914, at Salem.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Anna Marie Koehn; three children, Frederick Larry, Rena Frances and Verla Jean, father, Frederick A. Koehn, Salem; brother, Arthur Koehn, Vida; and three sisters. Mrs. Sophia Schultz and Mrs. Irene Kendall, both of Salem, and Mrs. Edith Witbeck, North Bend. The son, Walter Stanley, was born December 27, 1949, at Gold Beach.
