Dale Ross Gunn was born on April 7, 1929, the son of the late R.B. and Jessie Stith Gunn, at the small farming community of Hollene, New Mexico. He grew in the farming and oil community of Excelsior, Oklahoma near Cromwell.

He went to Goodwell grade school, and Excelsior elementary and high school, graduating in 1947. He continued his education at Murray State College, in Tishomingo, where he served on several campus organizations, including the Aggie Club, which he served as president. He was also a member of the Aggie basketball team. He graduated in 1949, and following his graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Jo Ann Ballew on September 4, 1949.

He then continued his education at Oklahoma A & M, now Oklahoma State University. While in school, he served on the dairy science club as a reporter; and the A & M dairy products judging team. He graduated in 1951 with his degree in Dairy Manufacturing. He worked for the Borden Company in Oklahoma City during the summer of 1950, and accepted a job with Colvert Dairy in Ardmore in June of 1951.

While with Colvert's, Dale worked throughout most of the phases of the production. He retired from Colvert Dairy in 1977 as the plant superintendent. He was a member of the Ardmore Jaycees and reporter for them, the Ardmore Lions Club, the Ardmore Safety Council, where he served as president in 1968; and was a faithful member of the Ardmore First Baptist Church. He also served as Scout Master from 1955 to 1959.

In 1977, he purchased half interest in the Comanche Supply Company in Oklahoma City and became partners with J. Oakley Hall. He traveled western Oklahoma, west Texas, Colorado and New Mexico, representing 29 manufacturing plants selling stainless steel equipment, material handling, packaging equipment, flavors and food product additives for the dairy and food industry. He served on the Oklahoma Dairy Products Institute for several years and was president from 1979 to 1981. He took full control of the company in 1992 after the retirement of Mr. Hall, and in 1995 sold the company to Crouch Supply of Ft. Worth, Texas. Dale retired in 2000, and he and his wife returned to Ardmore in 2003.

Jo Ann passed away November 11, 2003. They had shared 54 wonderful years together. Dale had been part of the grief share program at the church, where he was learning to live with the loss and pain. During these sessions, he met B. who had experienced the loss of her husband. They married in 2007 and enjoyed a God led marriage for the past several years.

As was Dale's request, he was cremated and a private family burial was held.
