Janet Lea Seright, aged 89, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Round Rock, Texas. She was born in Pleasantville, Iowa to Maurice and Jessie Proffitt on April 16, 1934. Her family moved to Amarillo, Texas, when she was in elementary school. She was a 1952 graduate of Amarillo High School. She worked at Pioneer Natural Gas for 22 years. She married her "Mr. Right" Gerald Seright on January 7, 1972. They made many loving memories in their 40 years together. Janet lived life through simple pleasures; church, family, friends, donating her time in clothing rooms no matter where she lived, her love for collecting vintage items, thrifting, and spending time making cookies with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a lover of words even though she sometimes thought people could speak too many. When life was hard, she adopted this quote and shared it with all, "When you reach the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on," and that she did until the very end.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice & Jessie Proffitt, her husband, Gerald Seright, sister Sue Stevens, brother and sister-in-law Jack & Alma Proffitt, stepson Jerry Dee Seright, and stepdaughter Jaunice Hayslip.

Janet is survived by her daughter Loree Green and husband Bob, son Stan Baucum and wife Starla, stepson David Seright and wife Bang, and stepdaughter Mary Ellen Seright. Grandchildren: Whitney Davis, Emily Van Aken (Tyler), Stephanie Brown (Blake), Samantha Jones, Danielle Seright, Dawn Seright, Justin McIlroy, Dennis Hayslip, Chris Seright, Catherine Seright, Carrie Seright, Curtis Seright, Minh Seright, and Lam Seright. Great grandchildren: Carson and Willow Davis, Jackson and Natalie Brown, Raylee, Olivia, and Weston Jones.

Memorials may be given to First Baptist Athens, Texas World Missions.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 18, 2023 with funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Autry's Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Athens Cemetery.
