Velma Hannah Evridge
Byron, GA- Velma Hannah Evridge, 92, passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013. Visitation is scheduled for 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Rooks Funeral Home, 109 West White Road in Byron. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, February 21, 2013, in the Fellowship Hall of Byron United Methodist Church, 103 West Heritage Blvd. in Byron, with Rev. Sam Lambach and Rev. Baxter Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Byron City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Byron United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6, Byron, GA 31008.
Mrs. Evridge was born in Wilcox County on March 18, 1920, to Gatsie Odom Hannah and T.J. Hannah. She grew up on a farm in Rochelle, where she went to school and attended Christian Home Baptist Church. In 1941, she moved to Macon to work there. In 1946, Mrs. Evridge married T.V. Evridge, and they had five children. She was a member of Byron United Methodist Church and the Aultman-Hammock Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Evridge is preceded in death by her husband, T.V. Evridge, an infant daughter, two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her sons, Darryl Evridge and wife, Cheryl, of Warner Robins, Bobby Evridge and wife, Bonnie, of Byron, Randy Evridge and wife, Judy, of Byron and Tommy Evridge of Byron; sister, Stella Roach of Byron; sister-in-law, Jean Hannah of Byron; five grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, stepgrandchildren and stepgreatgrandchildren.
