Alexander (Alex) Abusow was called home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2022 at age 69, in Calgary, Alberta. He was surrounded by loved ones in person and by thoughts and prayers at the time of his death.
Alex was born to Nicolas and Madlen Abusow on November 30, 1952, in Rosheim, a commune in France, and immigrated to Canada in 1956 to London, Ontario. As the oldest child of six he got into his own fair bit of mischief. He was a loving brother who looked out for his siblings. Alex took up photography in his youth and was self taught. That passion was then later used to capture his love of his family. He excelled in school and attended University of Western Ontario on a scholarship. He earned his Bachelor of Science for Computer Science and the equivalent in Maths. He graduated in October 1975.
Alex met his wife Cathy(Stokes) Abusow in 1972-73 at Briscoe Street Baptist Church in London, Ontario. They married on May 22, 1976 in London, Ontario and went on to have five children, Valerie Lynn, Rachel, Philip, Yvonne and Madeline. In 1985, they moved their family out west to Calgary, Alberta.
Alex was a wonderful loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He loved his children and his grandchildren who lovingly called him "Grumpa". Alex had a wonderful sense of humour, you could always count on a dry retort. He enjoyed helping others in many different ways, there was always a line up for him during tax season. Alex worked hard all his life, and throughout his later years. He held many different roles at Woodgreen Church, from being the office manager, to being the one who changed the light bulbs. Throughout the majority of his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him through prayer and fellowship.
Alex joins his father Nicolas Abusow, in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Cathy, his mother Madlen Abusow, his siblings, Tony Abusow, Maria Abusow-Pas, Nick Abusow, Valerie Richards, and Kathy Andrascik-Abusow, his children Valerie Lynn (Dan)Abusow-Damron, Rachel(Kelly)Abusow-Guard, Philip(Melissa)Abusow, Yvonne Abusow, Madeline(Kurt)Kinnear, and his eleven grandchildren, Nathan, Andrew, Shalev, Liam, Ren, Hallie, Declan, Abbie, Jane, Alexandra and Breanna. Alex also has many nieces and nephews throughout Canada and Ireland.

John 14:1-3 NLT

"Don't let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father's home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am."
