He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon. He is also survived by his children, Scott, Heather (Tyler), Wade (Dawn) and his beloved grandchildren, Kenton, Ashley, Noah and Cooper. He is also survived by his brother Doug (Lynne) and their children.
Don was born August 6, 1944 in Calgary, AB. He began schooling in Edmonton where he met his wife Sharon at the age of 15. They began dating and never left each other's side after. Don resided in OKotoks since 1974 and truly believed it was the best place to live. Don had many passions in life including music, camping, golfing, traveling. He was lucky that he was able to complete his bucket list in life. He was so excited to be a father and grandfather and family always came first. Don had a large group of friends who he enjoyed spending time with. He loved having people over and was always making everyone laugh. His ultimate goal in life was to take care of his family. Don was the type of man who believed in giving back and giving chances.
Our family cannot express how well we were cared for by Dr. Powell and his staff at the High River Cancer Center. Homecare was also so appreciated and words can't express how thankful we are for the support we received.
A celebration of life will occur in September to honour the most amazing person we have ever have known. Details will follow closer to the event. In lieu of flowers, we would encourage donations to the High River Cancer Foundation in Don's name.
